Dolphin Sands Clearwater Beach offers a prime beachfront location with walkable access to restaurants and activities, consistently praised for its friendly staff and beautiful sunsets. While recent reviews note some dated rooms, construction noise, and inconsistent amenities, the property maintains a family-friendly atmosphere and offers convenient beach access.
Just finished a 5 day stay with our family, had the 2 queen room with city view, we had an ok view, right across from parking garage not city view but didnt come for that. I liked the location as its got some things to walk to but not the main area where its super loud and busy. Rooms are small, bathroom even smaller. Definitely outdated and the pillows are tiny and flatten out. The fridge doesnt really get cold and they have 1 ice machine in a tiny room with 1 washer and dryer. Staff: the greeters and folks outside were nice and friendly. The overnight older lady was rude and abrasive, Victor however was amazing! He was professional, respectful, and genuinely seemed like he cared about everyone hacing a good vacation. the food options are a restaurant at the front and a tiki type bar and grill in the back, both had nothing special food wise and were overpriced but the drinks were good. our 3rd day there was an awfully strong pot smell all through the floor and the manager ensured to have staff deodorizing every hour and had staff looking to find whos room, didnt have any more issues the next 2 days. On friday night the Pool closed early, like 830 early, not sure why either, they just said everyone out pools closed. If you want loungers go out by 730 and lay towels then whenever staff get there you can square away, if the towels arent there then they resell and fast. The beach was good, small but still plenty for all there. They were starting construction while we were there to add a walkway from the Hampton side. The beach wash off station needs some work, the one inside the pool area worked better. Overall could use some customer service improvement and a good update/upgrade of some things, especially with the price of it all.
I could not say enough good things about our stay! Location being the best part, beach was amazing and perfect for young kids to swim safely. Dolphin sightings were multiple times a day! Pool was also perfect with plenty of sun all day long. Food and drink service from Cabanas was great and food was delicious. Rooms were what we paid for, perfect for a family of 4. Hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. My daughter was sick and we needed our room cleaned a few extra times, they were more than willing to get up there and do the dirty work. The manager also called me personally to check on how my daughter was feeling. The vibe is very family oriented but also great for my husband and I to have a few drinks and socialize with other parents. Live music daily as well. Zero complaints. We will definitely return, thanks Dolphin Sands!
Dolphin Sands Hotel was the perfect getaway from two feet of snow in February! From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff made us feel genuinely welcomed. They were warm, helpful, and professional throughout our entire stay. The property staff were equally friendly, working to keep the property safe and keeping everything in great shape. Our room was ground level, next to the pool. We did see some ants - not a huge deal for us as we were in and out of our patio door quite a bit. Once we found more of them congregating, we told the staff and they responded quickly, showing us what they were using, cleaning the area, and apologizing. Outside of that rooms were clean and comfortable and the location is hard to beat. It's walkable to shops, restaurants, and activities. The free breakfast - dolphin shaped pancakes - was a hit with our kids. Parking was easy. We'll absolutely be back!
We had a wonderful stay at Dolphin Sands! The location is absolutely unbeatable — everything is walkable and there are so many great restaurants nearby. The beach is right there, and we even saw dolphins from the shore… incredible! Our room was very clean and we had the partial ocean view, which was perfect. The only downside was the extremely loud construction next door. They started every morning at 8am, even on weekends, which made sleeping in impossible. The room itself is on the smaller side and could definitely use more storage space for luggage and clothing, but overall it was comfortable and spotless. The heated pool was amazing — we sat poolside every day and loved it! A huge shoutout to Ashley, China, and Krista at the bar — they were absolutely fantastic and made our trip even better. The front desk staff were also very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Overall, we had an amazing vacation and will definitely be back!
Stayed here last week for four nights. Unfortunately came when it was the coldest it's been in like 50 years or something like that haha. But this hotel is right on the beach and there are beach chairs down there for you. We were able to check in early. Michaela greeted us and let me check in early, she was also at the front desk about every morning we were there and was extremely friendly and helpful to us throughout our stay. There is also a doorman who greeted us and joked with us each time we can by and helped us park in the garage. The garage is right next door, you do have to pay $25 a night but I was able to come and go during our stay. The balcony of our room looks out into the marina but you can see the ocean from there as well and the sun sets right in your direct view so beautiful sunsets. We also saw dolphins right from our balcony which was awesome! They have a restaurant and bar in the hotel and an outside bar which was really cool. There is also a pool but no hot tub and I believe the pool is heated we did not swim unfortunately. Location is pretty good, within walking distance to some restaurants and other hotels and a public beach spot, the beach right in front of the hotel is more a private beach.
