The J Hotel & Suites receives mixed reviews, with notable concerns regarding inconsistent customer service, inflexible reservation policies, and issues with room functionality. However, guests consistently praise the hotel’s modern facilities, cleanliness, and convenient location near Honeymoon Island and the causeway.
I would not recommend staying at this hotel. The staff was extremely rude, unprofessional, and unhelpful throughout my stay. Before checking in, I made sure my children were properly listed on the reservation and was assured there would be no issues. However, despite following their rules and having my children included on the room registration, the hotel still kept my security deposit. My brother was also staying in the hotel with his children, so the staff assumed that his children were a part of my group. When I tried to discuss the issue, the staff was dismissive and unwilling to provide a clear explanation. Customer service was poor, and I felt treated unfairly as a paying guest. A security deposit is supposed to be returned when the rules are followed and no damage occurs, but that was not my experience here.
The J hotel was perfect for a weekend getaway with my family. Very new hotel in a great location right near the causeway. Tons of space for relaxing. The room was spacious and well equiped. Everything was clean and fresh. The pool was nice as well. Hope to stay again in the future.
The hotel itself was fine, but the customer service and reservation policies were extremely frustrating. The hotel appeared mostly empty, yet we were not allowed to check in early. On top of that, I called to shorten my reservation from Saturday–Wednesday to Saturday–Monday and was told they would not honor the original rates for those nights. Instead, they said the reservation had to be completely repriced, despite there being no minimum night requirement. Just be aware when booking that if you need to make changes to your reservation, the entire stay may be repriced. Very disappointing policy and not very customer friendly. I’ve never experienced this with other hotels before and was told this is an Ascend Collection policy.
I routinely drive to Palm Harbor and decided to try a new hotel and stay here. The positives = Location, car charger and that it is very new hotel. Cons = 1. Rude management / we drove three hours and plugged into car charger - headed to room to take a nap while car charged before heading to family get together for mother's day. Acknowledged by inconvenienced receptionist G. R. and told check in was 3pm. We asked what time it was and we were told 2:27 PM. Note = it was Sunday and hotel was empty. We sat on couch in lobby and waited without complaining staring at the wall. I figured house keeping was cleaning, even though it was dead quiet. At 2:55 G.R. said room is ready. Unbeknownst to us our room was the door we stared at for the last thirty minutes without anyone entering. It was ready the whole time and they made us sit for nothing. I figured the employee may be new so we were pleasant and went in for nap. The next morning at check out the manager was at desk and I inquired if it was normal to not be able to check in a few minutes if early, she had the same demeanor and stated if they did it for one they would need to for everyone. They have a strict policy of no checking in even a few minutes early. And that even though it looks empty the other side is full of baseball players. Either way it made no sense and we felt like an inconvenience not one person checked in or out while we stared at wall. We travel to pinellas once a week and sometimes we arrive 30 minutes early and some times four hours late, but never told to sit and wait for a room at other nicer hotels. Especially with room already ready just because they don't want to and then realize the room was right in front of us the whole time and ready. What ever happened to customer service and hospitality. 2. Road is very hard to turn into complex you have to pass and do u turn. 3. Breakfast not provided just snack. 4. Car charging not free. 5. Employees seem to hate their job, unwelcoming.
Feels like a brand new hotel. Super clean! We were impressed with the size of the room and how clean and new everything is. Easy to navigate, easy to use the laundry, snacks were available, free coffee all day. Had an unpleasant situation last night as the next door people made a lot of noise at night and we couldn’t sleep. We found out later the reasons and the hotel staff was kind and accommodating enough to move us to a different room for the night. All worked out well in the end, despite a stressful and sleepless night, but it’s not the hotel’s fault. I like the fact that the parking is covered and kept our car cool! That was a bonus. Great location! So close to the beach! Couple negatives: the doors to the restrooms don’t close properly, you really have to push hard to get a proper close. Looks like it wasn’t adjusted properly when installed. The doors to the room slam very loud and sometimes don’t close at all and remain ajar. Double check the doors when leaving. Other than that everything else was great. The pool was clean. On this trip, we visited more than 5 hotels and this one was in the top 2, we highly recommend it.
Great hotel. 4 stars because the pool closes at sunset, the parking is plentiful but hard to actually get in a spot, and some new construction hiccups like the sliding glass door sliding open by itself, the bathroom door wouldn't latch, the heavy metal doors slammed, etc. Staff was amazing, location right by Honeymoon Beach, CLEAN, and well kept property with a big room. Some have balconies.
Horribly laid out hotel, cram everything in such a small lot ? and you cant get in through anywhere unless you have a key.
Great location, clean rooms. Got the best sleep of my life here.
Beautiful brand new hotel!! The staff was extremely friendly. Accommodated a late check in and out. As my BF and I were just needing a place to sleep during our anniversary stay in Dunedin. Rooms were very clean and very large. Shower was large and great water pressure. The bathroom door didn’t close all the way. But other than that, it was amazing!
We had a great experience at this hotel. The room was large and very clean. I would definitely stay here again.
