Located centrally in St. Petersburg, the Mari Jean Hotel is a vibrant, LGBTQ+-focused property known for its lively nightlife and friendly staff, but guests should be aware that it is situated above a nightclub with significant noise issues and lacks modern amenities.
Great location! Being that you're above a nightclub, you hear the loud bass until closing at 3am even on the third floor. And, since there was an after party until 7am...I didn't sleep. The shower didn't have any water pressure (was a trickle) and no hot water on my last morning of a two night stay. This was my second time staying here and my worst experience. My next stay still be elsewhere, as it wasn't worth the price.
Read all details online and do not book through third party unless you want to pay an upgrade fee. Some of the rooms are over the bar and club that parties til 3am. Service was catty as hell. That might be the shtick, but it did not land well.
Priority is on bar and disco, treat guests horribly. Will never stay here again. Worst gay hotel anywhere. Ridiculous policies like not lending pool towels without securing a driver’s license for each individual towel ( which are poor quality and kind of dirty anyway), not allowing you into your room even if it is cleaned and ready if you arrive early unless you pay them $25 per hour! We are literally leaving a day early that we already paid for because we could not stand the way we were treated, and didn’t want to spend another penny there. Tried to give the manager feedback, but his response was condescending and defensive. This establishment does not understand customer service and will loose in the long run
This was our first time in St Pete and we came to this hotel by recommendation of a friend. Service was not friendly at all. Location is ok, but far from everything. Room was just ok, you have nothing but a bed and a bathroom. No fridge, no coffee maker. When you ask for something to any employee, they seemed to be annoyed by it. Then we tried the bar downstairs…. Omg the bartender was awful. Rude and more concerned about 2 girls that were hanging out with him than taking care of us (who not only were paying customers but also hotel guests). We had booked this trip for 5 nights and we left after our 3rd night to another hotel to finish our trip. I told them the night before we were leaving early because we were not happy there and they said “too bad … there’s nothing we do about it!” Please stay away from this place
It’s a historic building. There are restrictions on what they can and cant do here. They also manage expectations well in advance so you kinda know more about what you are getting into. That said, and staying as a LBTQ friendly couple, we appreciate what’s going on here, but not sure it was the right choice for us or other guests. It is certainly a party scene here and staying upstairs from the party makes it perfect for a hook up, but for a quite night’s sleep not the right pick. The bathrooms are very small, sink in the bedroom, not much storage space. Loved the ironing board, but no iron in 325. The tv worked well and remotes for led lights were fun. Loved the little clock on the bed side table. Pool is temp controled but not heated. No hot tub. During the day the pool opens to the public and they do have events outside too. The location is great for exploring St Pete and the pre arrival texts and links were helpful. The service was friendly and welcoming.
Location is great staff not so much... make sure you print off your parking before you come.... prepare for tiny sink/ wet bath- shower Toilet same area - half a mirror and no refrigerator.
Room was fine. Staff was good. BUT WE PAID FOR PARKING AND THEIR CONTRACT TOW COMPANY STOLE OUR CAR. THEY MADE ZERO EFFORT TO CONFIRM WITH MANAGEMENT we are GUESTS AND LAID FOR PARKING. BUYER BEWARE: the hotel doesn’t write down your license plate and the Tow contractor DOES NOT confirm with hotel Before towing your car. What an expensive mess. And the Hotel didn’t make any effort to clear it up telling us Not their problem. $332- stolen from us.
No deadbolt on door, no safe, threshold in closet was missing and staples penetrated your foot, sink had no pressure (once fixed the sink didn't drain), no screens in windows, no room service the first night (had to call to find out why), step up and down for the bathroom, sink on the outside of door, where are the mirrors?, light fixture broken and fell in the first 30 mins of arrival, continental breakfast (seriously!?), cabana reserved but no cabana boy to serve us. Instead they had the one and only bartender going above and beyond keeping up with bar patrons and our cabana, confusion and lack of communication were front and center when trying to get set up in the cabana, the pools heater was broken and the pool was a whopping 50 degrees, if that, food was decent, drinks were weak, service at the bar was great. This place has potential and probably works for some but my friend and my overall experience was not satisfactory compared to the many boutique hotels we have stayed. This hotel definitely ranks in the lowest of scores YET they claim they are in the top ten percent of hotels WORLDWIDE?! That is a lie along with many other claims made. There marketing department is amazing at making this place something it is not. For example they expressively market the hotel as a mens only hotel but we saw plenty of women staying there. Some of the rooms are being rented out monthly so this is a mixed residential hotel as it was explained to us. Overall negatives, not a repeat stay, lacking basic amenities, poor and incorrect advertising, and a lack of basic communication between staff. Positives, great location, responsive staff for guests, fun activities, and fun bars.
Phenomenal hotel, such a great atmosphere, very nice staff. Let me tell you, when you walk through the doors, the design of the place is phenomenal and very artsy, which I love. Very clean… Eddy at the front desk was very nice and informative and gave me great service. Went downstairs to the nightclub Cocktail for food and it was very good and fast. I got the Grilled Cheese with Candied Bacon!!!!! The drinks are spot on, bartenders are nice and welcoming, and good at mixing up drinks. The drag shows are phenomenal as well!!!! I seen Adrianna Sparkle and Conundrum. Loved it.. This is by far my favorite place to be in St. Petersburg HANDS DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much to the wonderful staff and the one who made it possible. I would recommend this place to any and everyone…. There is also a pool attached, there are other Djs who spin here regularly, and they are all ??? Such a great place
Our first visit to this AUDULT HOTEL was really fun. Rooms were really nice and clean and moderately priced. Eddie, who checked us in, took us to our room and explained all the remotes, the restaurant, bars, and pool area . Eddie was super fantastic. A complementary continental breakfast is provided. No refrigerator and microwave were available due to the age of the building's wiring. Is it haunted??? All staff were super outstanding. 5 ? $$
