Sta ‘n Pla Motel offers a budget-friendly stay with a retro vibe, located within walking distance of Clearwater Beach and its attractions. Guests appreciate the safe neighborhood, convenient amenities, and proximity to the bay, though some concerns exist regarding cleanliness and a few outdated features.
Second time staying at this AB&B, it is the perfect combination of comfort and cleanliness. The kitchen was well equipped for light meals, and the canal view from the shared dock was magically peaceful. Our favorite amenity is the SAFE neighborhood which is a 5 minute walk to the beach and bars. Will be back a third time?.
Love , love the location! It was perfect walking distance to our favorite places -- the beach, Cocos, Jimmys, Parlour donuts, etc! The retro vibe was homey. It was a perfect place for my husband and I. We could not get the TV to work, and the host had someone come almost immediately to fix it. Host communicated with us daily asking if there was anything that we need and made recommendations on places to eat. Clearsky Cafe has the best breakfast. Would definitely recommend to others!
My adult daughter and I enjoyed our stay very much and would absolutely stay here again. It was clean, an easy walk to the beach and we felt safe. The view of the bay from our room and the pier and nearby picnic bench were wonderful for morning coffee. The kitchenette was super convenient and the price of the room was budget friendly. I only saw one small roach and one tiny lizard and if you know Florida/the south that is a win! Even the cleanest of places can struggle with that so I was impressed. I would give 5 stars except for the following: since it’s an Airbnb and not a true motel anymore, they wanted to charge $20 just for a couple clean towels, stating that people had stolen them in the past. While they did provide two beach towels, we only had one bath towel and wash cloth each for a three night stay. With as sandy as it gets going to the beach every day, one extra each would have been nice. They were aLao slow to communicate upon our request for towels (more than 24 hours , if I remember right.) And speaking of sand, a broom in the room would have been helpful as well. Hard as we tried not to get sand everywhere, it’s inevitable. The kitchen was decently stocked, although the one sharp knife had a badly bent tip (room 23!) which made it difficult to cut the veggies and frozen pizza I brought. All in all it was a great place and I would recommend it easily to others.
Retro vibes. I like this motel for the price I have plenty of good to say about it so stay for the long message. It is 2 blocks from the water it took 5 min to walk to the beach. Plenty of restaurants and bars within 10 minutes walking distance. Cleanliness was very good. The building is old but it did not have a hint of must or mildew in the air. There is very little in the rooms leaving a very easy room to clean. The beds have wooden slats and no box spring which makes me feel a lot better in terms of preventing bugs. I checked and saw nothing on the bed underneath and nothing on the slats. The sheets and towels are white and I believe they’re bleached because I sat on it with an older bikini and the material from it started to bleed on the towel which makes me believe it was bleach. (To me that is a good thing). There is a small pool as well with easy access. The doors are code locks and deadbolts on the inside for extra security. The room had a microwave, coffee maker , and mini fridge smart TV and plenty of places for luggage. They didn’t have a main light, only lamps and a light in the bathroom and closet. This doesn’t bother me too much since I am only sleeping in there anyways. Pricing was great! They have parking for your vehicle and it is right outside your door. Plenty of parking available. There is no lobby as we booked through Air BnB. They have a dock for pictures or boats to come up. It is right on the bay. Would stay again. Great place for a bachelorette.
I booked this place for my parents as a gift for their small vacation together after not being able to vacation for years. My parents are elderly and this place was a total death trap because of the serious safety hazards. My mom called me immediately after they got there and said there are no exterior lights, the railing right by their door on the second floor fell. God forbid one of them were holding onto it! The room was a disaster. Rusted stove, dirty floors, filthy filters and disgusting bed sheets. I was appalled because all the pictures I saw on Airbnb were beautiful. DO NOT BE FOOLED! I sure was. I was in absolute distress because my elderly parents who just drove 10+ hours to arrive to a hotel where they couldn't even see anything outside!! It was so dark due to lack of any exterior lighting my mom fell down the stairs leaving on their way to another hotel not even half an hour after getting there. For your safety and those you love. RUN AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AS YOU CAN! If you are under renovation or construction, you need to let people know and give them to the choice to decide if they'd like to stay there. This could have been my parents last trip due to the negligence. This money hungry business could have and probably will cost someone their lives!
Me and my boyfriend loved our stay at Sta'n Pla. This retro motel is perfect for budget trips. We were in room 28, it included everything we could have possibly needed during our two night stay. We used UV lights as soon as we entered and essentially everything was cleaned spotless. The floors did need a good mopping; my feet were turning black after 20 minutes, but that didn't bother us too much. We didn't see any bugs the whole time either. We really felt at home here, i slept amazing the whole stay. We felt very safe leaving our things in the room while we attended a concert in Tampa as well as explore the beach, which really is only a 3 minute walk. The beach nearby is beautiful and is covered in shells. There's also plenty of places nearby for food. The area is nice and is decently quiet, we felt safe and very comfortable walking around to take pictures at 3am. The pool was clean, they even allowed us to cool off in it before we checked in. They also allowed us to fish on the docks which had sheepshead. Antonia was very kind and informative throughout our stay. Overall we really enjoyed it here and we couldn't be happier. We'll definitely be back :) Cleanliness - 7/10 Atmosphere - 8/10 Area - 9/10 Amenities - 7/10 (there is no washer or dryer)
I love these old motels. Every year there are fewer & fewer. They keep bulldozing the good old quaint motels of the 50s and replacing them with new modern high rise hotels that cost 2, 3, 4x as much. Sta n Pla was clean refreshed and had a small kitchen. Perfect place to Uber from the airport, Instacart some groceries, walk to the beach and chill. Great place to enjoy the old Clearwater vibe and budget my family has enjoyed for years!!!
This is a motel that they turned into an Airbnb. Location is great, it’s on the Marina side and only about 2 blocks fr the beach and there are stores and restaurants nearby. Pizza place and souvenir shops one block away. There’s a small pool. Room itself is decent. They’re clean but a little outdated. Kitchen and bathroom could use an update but sufficient for short term use. Has Flat screen TVs (maybe 32inch?). Not central AC and the ac unit a kinda loud.
The one bedroom studios are situated in the quiet part of busy Clearwater Beach. Our room was great with everything you would need for a short term stay. It has a fridge, toaster, coffee machine, good wifi and is airconditioned. The place is renovated and of good standard, very clean and easy to access. Out the door you can use the benches and tables at the little red pier to watch pelicans or read a book. You also have access to the pool. We would recommend the rooms for 2 adults. It is located just 5 mins by foot away from the public beach, dozens of restaurants, bars and a little grocery shop. Everything is in reach without the need of a car. Lea was a fantastic host, excellent communication and very caring. The temperature dropped for a day and she immediately brought over a heater and extra blankets just in case. This really made the stay even more special. We are greatful to have found this gem and would love to come back in the future!
