The Karol Hotel receives generally positive reviews, highlighting its upscale ambiance, clean rooms, and convenient location. However, some guests have reported inconsistencies in service, including delayed responses to requests and billing errors. Recent stays seem to have improved the overall experience and service levels.
We stayed at Hotel Karol this past weekend for a short couples trip and chose it for its proximity to where we wanted to be and my Marriott loyalty status. I booked the Romance Package, which included champagne, a dessert/chocolate tray, and breakfast for two. Before arrival, I confirmed the package details and also inquired about a complimentary room upgrade as a Gold member. I was told an upgrade would be accommodated. Unfortunately, the arrival experience felt a bit underwhelming. At check-in, my loyalty status was not acknowledged, and the interaction with the front desk agent felt transactional. I noticed glasses of champagne at the desk, and only after I looked toward them did the agent offer them to me. When I mentioned the champagne included with our package, the agent seemed unsure and needed to "double-check" before confirming it should be in the room. Once we got to our room, we discovered that no upgrade had been applied, and the room overlooked the parking lot. Since it was only a one-night stay, this wasn’t a major issue, but it did feel like a miscommunication. The room itself was clean, quiet, and the bed was very comfortable. However, the shower door did not seal properly, so water flooded the bathroom floor after each use. Before checkout, we had breakfast at Katch, the on-site restaurant. The food was decent overall. I ordered the avocado toast with a side of potatoes, and my partner had the classic breakfast. Our server was friendly and attentive, which we appreciated. That said, the avocado portion was surprisingly minimal, and while we noticed the chef visiting several tables to check on guests, our table was passed multiple times without acknowledgment. We charged breakfast to the room since it was included in our package, but shortly after leaving the property, I received a notification that my Amex had been charged for the meal. I had to call the hotel to request a correction and am still waiting for confirmation that the charge has been reversed. Overall, our stay wasn’t terrible, but it missed the mark in several service areas that typically set Marriott properties apart. Because of those service gaps, this likely isn’t a property we would choose again when visiting the area.
Our stay the Karol was fabulous! Very clean hotel, with friendly staff not only at check in but the restaurants too. We were able to check in early and were greeted with champagne. We were able to experience some fabulous cocktails at the rooftop bar and get brunch downstairs in the morning too. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were quiet especially even having a room next to the elevator.
I had the pleasure of doing hair and makeup for a wedding here, and it was such a memorable experience. The staff is always so helpful and goes above and beyond to help me with my kit. It made the whole morning feel relaxed and special, which is exactly what every bride deserves. So grateful to have been part of such a lovely day in such a stunning space. Definitely one of my favorite venues to work at!
My husband and I were recently invited out to try The Karol’s onsite restaurant, Katch Bistro, and it made for a great date night. The martinis were excellent, the Brussels sprouts appetizer was a standout, and the fish and chips were perfectly crispy and flaky. They were served with a zesty tartar sauce that paired well with the entree. On top of that, the service was top-notch. We’ll definitely be back!
staff is super nice and accommodating. the pool is amazing, heated and 7ft. elite lounge is cool with free snacks and refreshments. clean rooms! left some expensive jewelry there and they returned it 2 days later. highly recommend
We had a beautiful stay at the Karol hotel. It was decorated nicely for the holidays, it feels upscale and clean. There is a nice lobby area, lounge area, well equipped fitness center, and an outdoor pool. The room itself was very clean and spacious. Even though it sits on a main road, we did not experience any road noise and found the location convenient for getting anywhere in Clearwater & Tampa.
I absolutely love love love love this hotel. From the moment we walked in to the last day of our visit. Nothing but impeccable service, professionalism, friendliness. From the food to being greeted at the door with champagne to the rooftop bar, just everything. The bartenders, the music, the front desk supervisor and staff. Everyone was awesome. I will be back. Thank you again for a wonderful visit. It truly is a beautiful hotel.
We went to The Karol this past Saturday for the 50th Anniversary showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and it was such a great experience. The event was really well organized. They handed out prop bags for us to use during the show and even had festive treats for the occasion. The staff were wonderful and made everything feel special. Our family had a lovely time. We would definitely love to return for future events! Just to add, we’ve stayed at The Karol before, and it truly is a beautiful hotel.
Great property, super friendly and helpful staff. Room was spacious and very nice. The Vantage rooftop bar is a highlight. The staff of Rich, Dylan, and Karmen were super friendly and accommodating of our small group. Dillon and Taj (F&B managers) were also great and took time out of their day to talk with us. Will certainly be back.
