The Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Clearwater consistently receives extremely negative reviews, primarily citing cleanliness issues, including bugs, soiled linens, and unpleasant odors. Guests frequently report a lack of responsiveness from staff and significant discrepancies between the advertised accommodations and the reality, leading to dissatisfaction and a strong feeling of being overcharged. The property appears to be poorly maintained and lacks adequate customer service.
Stayed 2 nights but not a very clean place.had to ask for towels and they didn’t clean our room at all. Water pressure was low in shower and toilet was loose.
This placed looked nothing like the online pictures. At $150 for the night, this was not a get what you pay for. Saw no insects, thank goodness. Beds were uncomfotable and bed springs sounded like you were opening a dumpster lid when you moved. Cannot recommend this place at all.
Was a decent room for the price! Would rent a room again here. Despite hearing sirens a couple times was quiet. And had a decent pool!
Vacation for Easter weekend paid $250 for two nights expensive we got the room first first thing I noticed is I can't open the door because the door was jammed major problem with the lock and then when you walk into the room you're nock back by the smell of overwhelming bleach one of the bed squeaked every time you moved in the bed USB ports we're broken l reported both nothing was done the next morning wake up and there's 25 mosquitoes in the bathroom the shower was weak the floors were dirty the toilet didn't flush right had to repair that myself I know this is a franchise owned by a family The choice hotels need to inspect their franchises a little more and see if they're worthy of having a franchise with them. 2 stars for you stop being lazy you can do better.
AVOID - First and foremost, there are bugs. In the bed. I attached a photo of my leg after one night. I don't think they were bed bugs but they absolutely feasted on my leg. The sheets and blankets seems absolutely disgusting. - Speaking of bugs, there were a handful of dead bugs on the floor of the bedroom. Clearly these rooms aren't properly cleaned. If you look at other reviews of this establishment, you'll see other mentions of dead bugs. - Room IMMEDIATELY smelled, very strongly, of moth balls. - The television in the main bedroom didn't work. Like, what the heck? - The staff does. Not. Care. - Do yourself a favor and find a different spot. If the general manager reads these reviews, he doesn't care enough to do the most simple and sanitary of improvements. See all of the one-star reviews for yourself. How this place isn't under some sort of sanitary lawsuit is astounding.
Tiny bugs EVERYWHERE. You wouldn’t even notice them if you aren’t looking for them. There were in the Shower, on counters, tables, sheets, walls, literally every surface. I put my phone on the table, picked it up and there were 4 on it. Also the water smells & tastes absolutely foul, was gagging trying to brush my teeth with it.
They told me it was a suite and charged me $180 for a dump. Carpet was dingy, none of the furniture matched, beds and covers were gross. Absolutely horrible place. They shouldn't charge more than $70 for that room yet alone $180. ?
If your long term just make sure when you walk out of your room you take every important thing you own, my personal experience, also beware if their fully booked they may decide it's more important to remove your whole family out of your room to make more money from storm relief workers their vouchers pay more. Due to our experience, you want to wear ear plugs in that pool water you don't want to catch swimmers ears like my child has while staying long term.
DO NOT STAY HERE if you want to keep your money. Customer service is NO WHERE to be found! It's a long story but I will try to be short! We arrived after midnight after a flight. Went straight into the room, changed, and went right to bed. Next morning, we got up around 9am, dressed, called an Uber, and left. We didn't even unpack anything. Got what we needed out of backpacks and left. I can't even recall what the bed looked like! I do remember how hot it was in there, but other that than, don't recall any other details. The next day, got a notification that I was charged an additional $50 from the hotel. Was in a location that I didn't have service, just wi-fi, so I had to wait until 2 more days to call. This would have been a Thursday. I called the hotel on a Thursday asking why I was charged the $50. They told me for smoke in the room. I told them "this was wrong, my husband and I didn't smoke and we have 3 small children, so no; it wasn't them". She said "sorry, that's what the manager put on there." I said "okay, let me talk to the manager." "not here" she stated. Okay...when will they be there? "Monday". I guess I will call back Monday. Monday, I went back to work, couldn't call. Tuesday, I call and same lady talks to me. I ask for the manager. "Not in" she tells me. I simply say okay, when can I speak to them? "next week" I tell her this is what I was told last week and you told me to call this week. She tells me "manager is out sick with COVID now" I said "okay, how can I get this charge off my room saying it's from smoke, when I don't smoke?" and she says "if it says smoke, then you smoke in your room. We don't just charge every room with smoking" I said "but that is not true, we don't smoke, and I want my money back." she sits there for a minute and she said "fine, I will let her know you called." I said "do you need my name or number??" She said "no, I know your reservation. you were in room 220" How is the manager out so much? Why did she know exactly who I was right away? And my reservation?
