Recent guest reviews overwhelmingly highlight significant issues with this Holiday Inn, primarily revolving around a severe termite infestation, uncleanliness (including bug wings, used toiletries, and mold), and inconsistent room quality. While some guests appreciated the location and friendly staff, the widespread complaints about pests, poor maintenance, and unresponsive management significantly detract from the overall experience.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. PLEASE read before booking ESPECIALLY if you have young kids. This place has a MAJOR termite infestation that they refuse to address! There was about 11 families that chose to stay there this weekend for our end of the season baseball tournament. After checking in, one family discovered bug wings all throughout their beds in the rooms in the 300's on the third floor. They were moved from their room due to the live bugs/wings. Later that night after we all returned from the Rays baseball game, I pulled back our bed sheets and discovered 30-40 bug wings under the sheets/pillows on both beds! Then we discovered one live bug crawling across the bed, which after much research determined it was a live termite and that termites are known for leaving wings and black spots everywhere in beds of termite infested areas. My husband went down to the front and the lady switched our rooms. We were also at one point in the 300's. Next morning we had another family discover the same bugs, a used toothbrush and another family find old clothes from prior guests hanging behind their bathroom door. The cleaning people also left a dirty used sponge on top of my kids toothbrush. This place is absolutely disgusting and not well kept. While we were complaining about what we had discovered, a family we didn't even know came in also complaining about bugs/bug wings, because the front desk just checked them into our old room without even addressing the bugs. The management had the audacity to say that it was "only our baseball team" that noticed the bugs and that we must have brought them with us. THEY WERE TERMITES LITERALLY INSIDE THE MADE BED. DO NOT book with this place!
We booked a room with a private balcony for my husband, our son, and myself. Unfortunately, we found multiple insects crawling on the bed. The staff responded quickly, but the handling afterward was disappointing. After reporting the issue, we were told maintenance would be coming. I wanted to leave and stay elsewhere, but was told a refund could not be authorized until the manager arrived the next day. No one ever came to inspect the room. Instead, we were offered a room change. We explained that we were uncomfortable staying in the original room after finding insects on the bedding. The hotel could not provide a comparable replacement room. The marina-view room with a private balcony and jetted tub that we paid for was unavailable, and we were moved to a downgraded room. We were also told we could not receive a refund if we chose to leave that night. To make matters worse, we had already experienced issues with black flakes coming from the hot water earlier in our stay. The front desk staff were courteous, but the overall situation was frustrating. We paid for a specific room and experience, and when issues arose, the hotel was unable to provide an equivalent accommodation or immediate resolution. I hope management addresses these concerns, but this was not the experience we expected. See photos below
I had higher hopes for this hotel and left embarrassed I stayed there. We went to check in at 3:52 and our room “wasn't ready” and they would call us when it was. We didn’t get a phone call even though check in was technically 4 so we went back at 4:23 and it was ready. The room we booked was not the room we received and they stated they don’t even have the room we booked even though it was directly through their website. There was mold on the ceiling of the shower. Our toilet flooded at 10 PM one night; a handyman fixed it but we cleaned it up. We asked for more towels and they were never brought. My mom got bit by bugs while in the room. Lastly, you have to pay for the mini golf that’s literally on the property. Positives were we were able to walk everywhere, a good location, the restaurant and waterpark were fine—read the fine print for the waterpark. I wouldn’t stay here again and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone either.
I stayed here Friday night and honestly the red flags started waving immediately at check in. The front desk agent acted like answering basic questions was a personal inconvenience like im so sorry for checking into the hotel. From there it only got better. The pool had exactly zero towels. Hope you enjoy air drying. The rooms were a decent size but very outdated. Think less vintage and more hasn’t been touched since flip phones were cool. And for the price? Absolutely not. For what they’re charging I expected at least basic hospitality not attitude, no towels, and a room from 1995. Would not recommend to anyone.
We enjoyed our stay at The Holiday Inn Harborside so much we have decided to make it a yearly event. The room we had was huge & there was plenty of space for our family so we weren't right on top of each other like most hotel rooms. We have the loft king suite & loved it but will definitely be adding the adjoining room with 2 queen beds next time for even more space & extra beds for more sleeping accommodations. Erica checked us in & she was amazing! So friendly & full of great information to make our stay the best it could be. The rooms are a bit dated & not the fanciest but we are staying there with our kids so I kind of prefer not having to stress about them ruining everything. The space they offer definitely makes up for it in my book. I loved how everything was in walking distance. Restaurants, the beach, the water park & the pool & jacuzzi area was never over crowded & a nice chill area. We can't wait to return! The photos were the view from our balcony ?
This is a really nice hotel. Conveniently located near the beach (2 minute walk), the trolley to Clearwater Beach (2 minute walk), a water park and tons of restaurants. The staff is friendly (Russ is amazing) and it was the perfect place for us to be for our vacation to Florida. Would absolutely stay here again.
5 min away from the beach great! Had lunch at jimmys in the hotel today, ordered a drink 35 min later we get it . Wait person drab. No personality, never ask to see if out burnt fish sandwich was ok. Probably won’t eat there AGAIN
The rooms can look a bit dated. We were given a 1 bedroom King suite facing the water which made up for the older furnishings. At check in I was not recognized or given my Platinum Elite status benefits but when I went back later in the evening the person did a great job of acknowledging the mistake and making it right. Its nice to have a restaurant on site, and there are other great options a short walk away from this hotel.
The Holiday Inn on Indian Rocks Beach is truly not your typical Holiday Inn. The property is noticeably higher in quality, and the level of customer service is exceptional. As professional photographers, we had the pleasure of photographing a wedding here in January 2026, and the experience exceeded our expectations. Our primary contact was a wonderful woman named Barney, whose support made a world of difference. She was incredibly knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely invested in ensuring the day went smoothly. Due to unpredictable weather, the wedding required numerous last-minute changes. Throughout it all, Barney calmly guided us, the couple, and the vendors with confidence and care. Weddings can be extremely stressful—especially when weather complications arise—but Barney’s kindness, warmth, and years of experience truly shined. Her ability to adapt, reorganize, and implement new plans on the fly was reassuring. Thanks to her professionalism and leadership, the couple was able to enjoy their day despite the challenges. We highly recommend this venue, especially for weddings, and commend Barney for her outstanding service.
My friend and I got two adjoining rooms for my daughter's birthday. I got the two queen suite with the marina view and she got a two queen bed room. Everyone loved it! We kept the door open and it was like having a huge apartment with a full kitchen! The rooms and also facility were clean and they had it stocked with everything we needed as far as plates, silverware, cooking stuff, etc. We all loved everything about the hotel even though the water park was closed. They still loved swimming in the heated pool and the hot tub, the mini golf, and the restaurant with live music! We plan on going back when it warms up to go to the water park and also next time we are bringing a boat, as you can park it right behind the hotel (marina view). One other thing - all the employees were very nice! It sucks that other people didn't have a great time (in other reviews) but we all thought it was really great!
