Crystal Palms Beach Resort receives mixed reviews, primarily due to ongoing construction and cleanliness issues. Recent feedback highlights persistent problems with noise, dust, and a lack of communication regarding building renovations. While some guests appreciate the location and balcony views, many are disappointed by the unacceptable state of the rooms and lack of responsiveness from management.
The building itself is in a good spot. It is not exactly beachfront, but it is a walkable distance from the beach. The pool was clean, and so was the hot tub. The pool furniture, although dirty, was functional, and there were some pool floaties and toys available for the whole family to enjoy. The room needed some updates. But quite honestly, what really bothered us was how filthy the place was. You could tell that it sorely needed deep cleaning. Like perhaps it used to be an apt that was abandoned or belonged to a pet owner who did not clean it for years, and then it was turned into a rental property. There were patched, unpainted holes in the apt. The stove top was dirty. The refrigerator had spilled water inside. The coffeemaker, inside, was filthy. The utensils were some dirty and others really messed up. The sliding doors did not lock. The bed in the masters bedroom was slanted. The shower in the masters bedroom did not drain properly. The first day we were there, we went to the pool, and when we decided to return to the room, we found three/four guys un our apt. It was quite upsetting. A housekeeper had let the guys into our apt to work on the wifi. No one informed us that this was going to be done. When we called front desk, they also dis not know that this was going to be done to the apt. There was a guy, who allegedly worked maintaining the building, who when we arrived to the apartment, acted like it was the most normal thing ever to be there without us having any knowledge...and with all our belongings in there....so he got really combative, and raised his voice at me when I was trying to figure out what was happening. It took a while for us to figure out what the hell was going on. I had to drive to Sunset Villas, to get someone to go with me to Crystal Palms, and sort the whole thing out. There were two very nice staff members: Latanda at front desk ( sorry, not sure how to spell her name) and Michael ( Property maintenance at sunset). The lady at front desk advocated for us to receive a refund for one night for the inconvenience. Michael helped us figure out how,why and who allowed people in our apt. I could not stop shaking that whole day. We slept with stuff barracading our doors every night after that. The next day, we came back to find someone had parked in our spot, and could not find the person to give our spot back. The balcony was our favorite part. Sitting out there and enjoy the sea breeze made our trip. Although there was no ocean view ( as some of the pictures deceivingly show), it was great sitting out there and watching the sky's colors at sunset. There were really good places to eat nearby. We really enjoyed Crabbers, and Sea Dog brewery. For desert, we walked to Super Scoops ( became a family favorite).
Mattress is just barely ok. Floors need to be cleaned. Check-in is down the street (no signs telling you this). Ask for the wifi code there as well, otherwise you'll have to call for it. Great location. Walking entrance to the beach. Pool area is really nice. Semi transparent shades let in light from other hotels so bring a face mask if you need dark. Spacious balconies toward the ocean and pool. Full fridge and some kitchen items if you want to eat here. Feels like a safe neighborhood.
This was our second year booking through Kurt/Oasis Getaways. The location of the building is excellent but unfortunately, this year’s experience was extremely disappointing. We were assured that this unit would be an upgrade from last year and that prior building issues had been addressed. However, the day before our six-week stay began, we received a vague message that the building would be undergoing a “facelift” and that we might “see/hear some activity.” No details were provided. Within days of arrival, we were informed that scaffolding would be installed on our balcony. This required workers to repeatedly pass through our unit, and we had to remain inside while the work was being done. Shortly after, all balcony furniture was removed, access was completely restricted, and our windows and doors were covered with plastic for an extended period during power washing and painting. For nearly two weeks, the balcony was unusable and the views we specifically paid for were completely blocked. At times it felt like we were confined inside the unit. This also impacted a planned visit from our son and daughter-in-law, who were unable to enjoy the space as expected. Even after the balcony work was completed, construction continued throughout the property for the remainder of our stay. Noise, dust, and safety concerns made the pool and surrounding areas frequently unusable. Communication was a major issue. After initial updates, Kurt stopped responding to messages during our stay. We did not receive a response until after we returned home, and there was no apology—only explanations that he was not responsible for the situation despite his involvement with the property. While the location is great, the overall experience did not match what was represented or what we paid for. We would not book with Oasis Getaways again.
Do not book here!!! It’s completely under construction, and I wasn’t notified until our booking went through. When we arrived, I found the lobby empty and zero staff. There is a piece of paper taped to the door saying you have to drive to a different property to check-in, and you will be treated as an inconvenience. You can expect to hear the construction all day and smell the paint while you try to enjoy the pool. The room size was great, but the dishes were dirty and stuff was falling apart. For our 5 day stay, we received ZERO room service. No room pick ups or clean towel restocks for my family of 4. Treasure Island is full over other options. We will not be returning.
I don't like leaving bad feedback but this was my worst experience with a hotel. It started the minute I arrived and there is no one there to check you in and a note on the door to drive down the road to a different address to check in about a 1/4 mile away. Ok, I do that and come back. Now there is the malfunctioning one elevator. The second elevator is out of service completely. The elevator buttons were wired to a different detached panel that was sitting in what looked like a bucket for a mailbox. The note on the elevator door says be patient very slow elevator. You are not kidding. Takes forever to come to where it's called and forever to move. The room size was nice but very outdated. All of the bifold doors to the closets were half off the track and would not open or close without a struggle. The TV was a nightmare to figure out how to get to the few channels you get which were terrible. The blinds in the bedroom and living room didn't work at all. I called the morning after I arrived to get them fixed. No one ever came to look at them during my entire stay. Do you not have anyone doing maintenance? The room was clean. It just seems all of these broken things are not addressed. Then there's the dresser in the bedroom that was so old the drawers wouldn't stay closed so when I walked by it sometimes would hit my leg on the half open drawer. The views were fantastic from the balcony. The stove was disgusting. The stovetop looked like someone cooked cheese on the stovetop without a pan and let it cook for 3 hours. I tried to clean it off because it looked so bad but couldn't get it off. The pool and spa looked like they were clean and in good shape, but it was way too cold to go swimming. I went to turn on the lights on the balcony and found both fixtures were missing and there were exposed wires in the box for the fixtures on the wall? There were light bulbs out and missing. I had to move light bulbs around. Worst stay ever.
Beware! You will regret booking! Do not book this property if you are seeking peace and quiet and a true vacation experience. We booked a stay at Crystal Palms Beach Resort because it was advertised as relaxing, luxurious, and a walk to the beach property. We were also told the room "overlooked the beautiful pool". This was not true, as while seated on the balcony the only view was of the busy intersection of 117th St and Gulf Blvd. Unfortunately, the descriptions provided could not have been further from the truth. There was extensive, heavy construction taking place during our stay that was not disclosed prior to booking. On our very first morning, we were awakened early by the loud beeping of a construction lift backing up in the parking lot out front, followed by the sound of a loud pneumatic drill—similar to a small jackhammer. When I opened the door to our third-floor unit, I was shocked to find two workers on a lift approximately four feet from our door, staring back at me and actively jack-hammering stucco off the exterior of the building. This noise continued all day, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, making it impossible to talk on the phone, rest or relax. Even more concerning was the large amount of stucco dust created during this process. I later learned that breathing stucco dust can be very hazardous to one's health, particularly for individuals with breathing issues—and notably, all of the construction workers were wearing protective masks while doing this work. Guests, however, were not warned or protected in any way. I contacted the property manager, Kurt, with Oasis Getaways, who owns two units and manages multiple units in the building. He was unwilling to provide any refund for all the inconvenience and was not honest when questioned why this construction was not disclosed in his marketing. He initially claimed it was disclosed, but after personally checking our copies, Vrbo, Airbnb, Expedia, Booking.com, Travelocity, and many other listing platforms, I can state unequivocally that there was not and there's still no mention anywhere of ongoing heavy construction. This is completely unethical in business and demonstrates the owners/managers care more about taking guests money than providing a great vacation experience. To further confirm this, I spoke directly with the construction foreman on site, who stated that the building had already been under construction for several months and that the project was expected to continue for several more months. In addition to the noise and hazardous dust, the entire complex was visibly dirty, with construction debris throughout hallways, balconies, stairwells, and common areas. Only one of two elevators was operational, resulting in 3–5 minute waits just to reach the ground floor. While construction did pause on the weekend, the property remained dusty, dirty, and far from the “upscale” experience advertised. The dishwasher overflowed and required that we clean up the mess since there was no maintenance on the weekends. This is not a relaxing property. If you are staying during the week, expect noise, dust, delays, dirt, and disruption. The lack of disclosure is unacceptable, and guests are not being given the opportunity to make an informed decision before booking. Had we just been told the truth, we could've found another place and had a pleasant stay.
There were several things, Wi-Fi sucked, I had to keep switching to my phone hotspot if I wanted to do anything. The couch/ hideaway bed was broken, it would not open at all. The bed was lopsided, I felt like I was going to roll out if I was even close to the edge of the bed, the fitted sheets were the wrong size and wouldn’t stay put. When taking a shower I needed to put a folded bath towel by the catch the before it went under the laminated floor, I also used the heavy towel on the floor.
I was extremely disappointed upon arrival. While the construction around the building was not an issue for me, the condition of the room was unacceptable. There was dust on the floors, hair in the shower, and even a dirty towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door. The shower itself was in very poor condition, with black buildup that appeared as though it hadn’t been properly cleaned in years. I would not recommend this property. However, I would like to note that the receptionist, Daja, was extremely kind and understanding when I checked out, as I ultimately decided not to stay due to the condition of the room.
It's hard to give an accurate review due to the resort undergoing renovations at the time we were there. However, the condo unit we stayed in was nice, clean, and well taken care of. Balcony has an ocean view. This is across the street from the beach and road noise was loud from the balcony. If this was directly on the beach, I would highly recommend.
All day of traveling to arrive late around 11:30pm to crystal palms resort. Walked into our room and it was 85 degrees and a broken AC unit. I called the front desk and they told me there was nothing they could do, not even a fan! She even told me that we couldn’t switch rooms because of full capacity, yet they got us in a new room the next morning at 7am. Anyways, some water would’ve been nice but oh what do you know? The vending machine was broken too! My girlfriend and I got 0 sleep and had a full itinerary for our trip. Everyone I spoke to at this place told me the manager was busy and I was never able to talk with them directly! Everyone besides the manager told me I would get compensated for the inconvenience and here I am now. No compensation. They even charged me $230 upon arrival saying i’d get it back when I checkout. They only gave $100 back. Why? Not sure, we left our room spotless. God forbid you have any problem at this resort because nobody will help you and they’ll keep telling you that their non existent manager will help asap!
