The Comfort Inn St. Petersburg North receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising its convenient location, comfortable beds, and the availability of amenities like a hydro massage chair and shuffleboard. However, numerous guests have reported significant cleanliness issues, including musty odors, stains, bugs, and mold. Several reviews also highlight concerning customer service experiences, such as unresponsive staff and a refusal to honor loyalty program benefits. Overall, the property appears to be showing its age and struggling to maintain consistent quality.
I cannot comment on the hotel itself because we were unable to stay there due to unexpected changes in our travel plans. However, I am very disappointed with the customer service. I submitted a cancellation request through Booking.com and also contacted the hotel directly. Despite multiple messages, I never received any reply. What I find particularly unprofessional is the complete lack of communication. A simple response, even a negative one, would have been appreciated. Instead, my messages were ignored while payment is now being requested. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this hotel due to the poor customer service and lack of responsiveness. Update: Thank you for your response to my review. Unfortunately, my original concern remains unresolved. Despite my cancellation request and follow-up messages, I never received any reply from the hotel before or after the stay date. The payment has now been charged, but I still have not received any explanation regarding the complete lack of communication. A simple response would have been appreciated and would have demonstrated professionalism and respect for your customers. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this hotel's customer service.
Extremely convenient location, nice large sweets the massage chair which I wasn’t going to use. Which I’m extremely glad I tried the Hydro massage chairsactually has been a highlight this place just continues to impress. Matt was extremely helpful and assisting this evening. Highly recommend.
The property itself seemed nice overall, and the location was very convenient for getting around the area. The parking lot was well lit and I felt safe coming and going, which is always appreciated when traveling. Check-in was smooth, although the staff member assisting me didn’t make eye contact or smile, which made the interaction feel a bit impersonal. Breakfast was fairly standard — waffles, frozen sausage patties, and pre-made egg white patties for sandwiches. The bagels were the mini size though, which didn’t really make sense for building a sandwich. The room itself appeared generally clean and I did not see any bugs, which I appreciated. However, the carpet was extremely outdated and looked worn and dirty, which made the room feel less clean overall. The biggest issue during my stay was the smell in the room. It wasn’t cigarette smoke, but more of a strong musty odor that smelled like dirty, damp towels. The smell was very noticeable and unpleasant during the stay. Overall, the location and safety of the property were positives, but the condition of the carpet and the musty smell in the room made the experience less comfortable than expected.
The room is lovely! They serve breakfast until 9:30, which is super convenient for my activities. Plus, I got a fantastic massage voucher. I'm loving it!
Wow, where to start. Front staff were great. That's where the good stuff stops. Was put in a handicapable room on the first floor, not sure why. Everytime someone shut a door to another room, it rattled the entire room. Especially frustrating at night. The room smelled old and musty. The light from the hallway was visible under the door. The bedding had stains. The pillows were so small, but at least the mattress was mostly comfortable. A lot of wear and tear that needs attention. The water pressure was absolutely AWFUL. There was barely a trickle at best in the shower. If I could have fit in the sink, I'd have had better luck washing. Stepped into the shower and tripped because the drain was not attached. There was hair in the shower and dirty hand prints on the shampoo bottles attached to shower wall. I did not take pictures of everything, but very overpriced and NOT a 3 star on any level.
I Was totally surprised at the quality of this upgraded hotel. You walk in and Immediately, you have a gift store to the right and the front desk to the left. And just beyond that, a really nice bar area. Then a shuffleboard area with an air hockey table, and pinball machine. Just off the side was a more intimate sitting area, and they even had a Hydro Water flow massage beds 2 beds of them in there own room these are an excellent way to relax. We got to experience it for free. They gave out gift cards for using it. At least once. The rooms were quite upgraded and spacious. Especially the handicapped one that we used plenty of room to move around. Came with a microwave, a refrigerator, a coffee set up. A nice sized TV although that could have been bigger and the breakfast was excellent. Waffles, fresh fruit. Orange juice , coffee, tea. Eggs , Sausage patty's a variety of breads english , muffin , cereals , milk, for cereal, creamers for your coffee or tea . , a very nice basic breakfast all around. They have an outdoor pool as well. Oh and just past the office desk there another snack area for purchasing sodas., Candy bars ,chips etc. The beds are very comfortable each beds has 4 pillows which i love and really thick mattress pads and down Alternative comforter. Also plenty of plugs four charging your tablets , phones whatever. The rooms are clean nice and clean. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Don't get me wrong It's not a Hilton but they sure are trying. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it
Stayed the night before St. Pete Distance Classic (marathon) February 2026. Location was perfect, less than 15 minute drive (easy drive). Check in was fast. Room was clean and had fridge and microwave (I used both) and coffee maker...and coffee downstairs 24/7. Lots of channels on TV and heat/ac worked well. Quiet in room and outside felt safe. I would stay here again.
Staff was super nice and helpful. Check inn process went smoothly. Rooms were clean. Bed was a king as stated. Bed was also comfy, I slept great. View wasn’t the best but overall it was a decent experience.
The sheets were clean, the bed was comfortable. But as I enter this place I knew I was in some place mysterious. The ceilings were low. The lighting was minimal. The creaky elevator made me apprehensive like I was never going to reach my destination. It took four tries to get my room to open with the key card. The desk attendant had to do it. He blamed it on program and I am 6 ft tall. The ceiling in the shower was 6 ft. 3 in made me very claustrophobic. There was no light blocking curtain that I could close across the window. Only some sheer curtains on a damaged curtain rod. The entertainment System was inscrutable. No one could have figured it out. The furniture was all dented, dinged and scratched. Free breakfast in the morning was comprised of some strange egg. Imitation and sausage along with a lot of Styrofoam and plasticware.
Good location, but very outdated hotel, platinum members dont get late check out beyond 12pm and they cant even honor that; i got a call just after 11 asking if I was still in the room on my checkout date so I decided to leave as its clearly they dont want guests to feel welcomed even when they aren't fully booked. Staff could use a little more enthusiasm, they offer good service but just kinda seem like they're doing a job. Hotel is very old and dated, like super old and dated to the point I wont stay here again until they do a renovation its truly that bad as the rooms show their and smell their age (think musty from the 90s). The door locks are so old that they are from 90s and very very outdated (I used to work at a hotel and these were 20 years outed when I was in the industry.) Rooms leave a lot to be desired, but are for the most part clean enough. Bathrooms definitely need major TLC or even tub fitters or something, but the age is beyond showing. Breakfast is meh at best, otherwise IHG properties are far better. On the plus side, the beds were clean and super comfy, same as the pillows. All in all, I wont totally disqualify all Comfort Suites from future consideration, but this is definitely a good place to stay if you need a room for under $90. Definitely not worth over $90/night. My friend for this trip is staying at the Quality Suites in Bradenton, similar rate per night as im paying, similar room style/size but much newer and nicer, overall better value.
